I am pleased to announce my new film is now on YouTube for you all to watch. The film is 9 mins 33 sec and features a rewilding project based in the highlands of Scotland.
Film Synopsis
In this film we will follow a team of conservationists, as they set out to follow their dream of rebuilding lost areas of the Caledonian Forest in Scotland. They quickly realise that to fulfil this they must investigate strategies to find the keys to unlock the answers to natures secrets, before they are lost forever, and join forces with an unlikely partner that could be the key to unlock its full potential.

Filming was split between two locations, the filming base at Birchfield (Natural Capital Laboratory) and Loch Affric. Filming on location was challenging at times. This was mostly down to the weather and kit that did not work properly. Scotland was cold, wet, and it snowed on and off throughout the two weeks I was there. The weather was very changeable sometimes having rain, hail, sun, wind and snow in one day. This made filming Wood Ants difficult as the ants did not like the snow and rain either and stayed inside their nests.

In between the rain and snow I managed to get footage of the main characters of the story, the Wood Ants, amongst other wildlife. Drone footage was also gathered of both locations. Glen Affric is a amazing place and I can see why the owners of Birchfield were inspired to rewild there land after seeing what an amazing job Alan Watson Featherstone has done with Glen Affric. I will definitely be getting his new book on rewilding Glen Affric, which will be published soon, that provides detailed information on the restoration of Caledonian Forest at Glen Affric.
I enjoyed filming the short film in the Scottish Highland and the Caledonian Forest remains one of my favaourite places in the British Isles.
